Minutes to Midnight
The long awaited album "Minutes to Midnight" by Linkin Park has finally arrived! I have waited long enough for this to come that I kind of forgot how exciting this is. Some Shindoa rapping, some Chester screaming, some Hahn beating, some Bourdon druming...now, most people are disappointed with the outcome of the new album. Linkin Park is known for their nu-metal/rapping/screaming, but they have stray away from it. They have gone for a more rock/punk/hip-hop/emo influence. They are much softer, but still very enjoyable.
This album brings a different taste than whatever is out there making it unique and worth getting. The hard work of the band can be heard in the details that they've placed on all the songs. From this album, I particularly enjoy "What I've Done", "Bleed It Out", "Shadow of the Day" and "In Between". If you are looking for more rap, you can always go for Mike's Fort Minor or if you are missing out on Chester's screaming vocal, his solo album is going to come out soon. Moreover, you can always wait for Linkin Park's next album. So if you are not satisfied with this album, don't complain.
The album title is a reference to the Doomsday Clock regarding human race's approach to a full blown nuclear war. Currently, the clock is set to five minutes from Midnight which is referring to doomsday. The clock has been set forward and backward depending on world events.
*side notes: Heroes season 1 episode 8's name is "Seven Minutes to Midnight", also a reference to the doomsday clock, but with the connection to a "nuclear explosion". Interesting...
